NASCAR at Charlotte odds, picks 2019: Model says Kyle Larson surprises at Coca-Cola 600

NASCAR will be under the lights again at Charlotte Motor Speedway Sunday evening once the green flag drops in the 2019 Coca-Cola 600 at 6 p.m. ET. Joey Logano enters the 2019 NASCAR at Charlotte race as the leader in the Dragon Energy Cup standings with 478 points. He’s looking for his second checkered flag of the calendar year, and also the 2019 Coca-Cola 600 odds give him an 8-1 chance to receive it. Meanwhile, Kyle Busch (3-1), Kevin Harvick (9-2) and Martin Truex Jr. (6-1) are all going off in 6-1 NASCAR at Charlotte shorter or odds. This season’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway boasts an extremely talented field of drivers who have had success at this course, so before you create any 2019 Coca-Cola 600 picks or enter a daily Fantasy NASCAR tournament on sites like FanDuel and DraftKings, check out the NASCAR in Charlotte predictions from SportsLine’s proven computer model.

Produced by DFS expert and SportsLine predictive information engineer Mike McClure, this proprietary NASCAR prediction model simulates every race 10,000 times, taking factors like track record and current results into consideration.

The model is off to a strong start this year, calling Daytona 500 champion Denny Hamlin that a top-four contender from the beginning. It nailed eight of the top 10 drivers in the Pennzoil 400, which included putting winner Joey Logano in its projected top . Additionally, it called Kyle Busch’s enormous win at Bristol last month.

It made some enormous calls this past year, including correctly casting wins for Kyle Busch in Chicago and Martin Truex Jr. at Sonoma. It also nailed three of the top four finishers at Michigan and a couple of the top four at the Daytona 500. Anybody who has followed its selections is way up.

McClure, with a mechanical engineering degree, grew up around race tracks. Big events at iconic places like Charlotte Motor Speedway are in his blood. Now, his version mimicked the 2019 Coca-Cola 600 10,000 times and the results were so surprising.

For NASCAR in Charlotte 2019, we can tell you the model is high on Kyle Larson, who makes a strong run in the checkered flag despite heading off at 16-1 Coca-Cola 600 odds. Larson is fresh off an impressive victory at the 2019 All-Star Rush at Charlotte Motor Speedway and he’ll look to become just the eighth driver in history to win the All-Star Rush and Coca-Cola 600 in precisely the same calendar year.

The 26-year-old enters Sunday’s race having put together back-to-back top 10 finishes in Dover and Kansas. Those powerful performances have helped Larson take up the Dragon Energy Cup standings, and he will be looking to make more floor by sinking into the front of the package at Charlotte, where he has had success. Prior to last week’s All-Star Rush victory, Larson had finished within the top 10 in three of his final four starts in Charlotte. In 16-1 odds, Larson presents excellent value at the 2019 Coca-Cola 600.

INITIAL UFC MIAMI CARD REVEALED

The UFC recently revealed the first lineup for UFC on ESPN 3, which takes place April 27 in BB&T Center in Sunrise, Florida. The rumored primary event between middleweight sluggers Yoel Romero and Paulo Costa was not officially announced, but the UFC did affirm a previously-reported light heavyweight bout between Glover Teixeira and Ion Cutelaba, as well as a bantamweight bout between John Lineker and Cory Sandhagen. You may find my recently-posted ideas on these bouts via the hyperlinks. In terms of my thoughts on the other newly-announced bouts, you can read them below.
Carla Esparza vs. Livia Renato Souza, UFC on ESPN 3
The most noteworthy of this new matchups declared is that a women’s strawweight bout between Carla Esparza and Livia Renata Souza. Esparza (13-6) is 4-4 in the UFC and is a former champion, but she is coming off of a beatdown TKO loss to Tatiana Suarez. Souza (13-1) is 2-0 at the UFC and is a former Invicta champion herself, now riding a four-fight win streak overall. That is a winnable fight for Esparza but that I really don’t understand how anyone can have faith in her at this stage. She might be a tiny favorite here, but each of the upside is with Souza.
Andrei Arlovski vs. Augusto Sakai, UFC on ESPN 3
Heavyweights Andrei Arlovski and Augusto Sakai will fulfill with this card. Arlovski (27-18, 1 NC) is 6-8 in his latest stint at the UFC and is currently riding a three-fight losing skid with a choice loss to Walt Harris his last time out. Sakai (12-1-1) is coming from a TKO win over Chase Sherman in his UFC debut and is about a three-fight win streak in general. Arlovski is an easy fade at this point and I anticipate Sakai to bet a good favorite here.
Jim Miller vs. Jason Gonzalez, UFC on ESPN 3
Lightweights Jim Miller and Jason Gonzalez are set to do battle. Miller (29-13, 1 NC) is 18-12, 1 NC all-time in the UFC but has fallen on hard times as of late with losses in five of the last six bouts. Gonzalez (11-4) is only 1-2 in the UFC and has been finished in his losses. Miller is going to be the favored here predicated on name value but I don’t know whether it’s possible to trust him at this point.
Dhiego Lima vs. Court McGee, UFC on ESPN 3
There is also a welterweight bout between Dhiego Lima and Court McGee. Lima (13-7) is just 2-6 in the UFC but is coming from a brutal KO win over Chad Laprise in UFC 231. McGee (19-7) is 8-6 in the UFC and defeated Alex Garcia via decision in his final struggle. I could see this one going either way, either Lima tests McGee’s fading chin or McGee takes him down and smothers him. Start looking for a close betting line here, with perhaps a slight lean to McGee.
Jessica Penne vs. Jodie Esquibel, UFC on ESPN 3
And finally, women’s strawweights Jessica Penne and Jodie Esquibel have been re-booked for this particular occasion as their bout at UFC on ESPN 1 recently fell through following Penne hurt her ankle in warmups. Certainly, it was not a super-serious harm as she will be fighting just over a month afterwards. Penne was a small favorite before the fight was pulled only hours before it was scheduled to occur, and I’d presume the new line will be set right where it left off.

Super Bowl Betting Predictions And Odds

In 2019, the New England Patriots ground their way to history, beating the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 in Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta, to place a record-equalling 6th NFL title. The two teams had previously played in Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002 — when the Rams were based in St Louis — with a young rookie quarterback named Tom Brady leading the Patriots to an upset victory.
Almost a generation later, at a defensive game which never reached any fantastic heights, the Patriots dominated play and may well have won by many more. However, in the lowest-scoring Super Bowl of all time, New England failed sufficient, and got the work done to give now-veteran quarterback, Tom Brady his 6th championship, the most of any player in NFL history. Coach Bill Belichick also made history, winning his 8th Super Bowl ring — two as a defensive coach for the New York Giants and six as the Patriots’ Head Coach.
Superbowl LIII was a mismatch in many ways. At 32 and 24 respectively, Rams’ coach Sean McVay and quarterback Jared Goff were up against wily specialists in Belichick and Brady. The Rams duo spent the previous two seasons heralding the arrival of a new era of soccer — where offense was searching a setback to the old adage which teams ultimately must win championships with defence. At some point, the old adage prevailed.
The Patriots set up their’past versus the long run’ clash with an AFC Championship title success with a 37-31 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, the only other team that outplayed the Rams in the 2018-19 year old. For his part, the Rams took a controversial 26-23 overtime win over arguably the best team in the NFL in 2018-19, the New Orleans Saints, aided with a doubtful call by the officials at the final minutes of regulation time.

NEW UFC BOUTS BOOKED INCLUDING RETURN OF EDDIE WINELAND

A women’s flyweight bout between Luana Carolina and Priscila Cachoeira is place for UFC 237, occurring May 11 at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Cachoeira is filling in on short notice for the wounded Yanan Wu. The news broke. Carolina (5-1) is riding a five-fight win streak since dropping her MMA debut, including a success on the Brazilian Contender Series last summer. Cachoeira (8-2) has lost both of her UFC bouts to Valentina Shevchenko and Molly McCann. Now, bettors will probably be seeking to fade Cachoeira because of all the damage she has been shooting in her fights, and I would expect Carolina to be the favorite here despite having no expertise within the Octagon.
Eddie Wineland vs. Grigory Popov, UFC 238
An intriguing bantamweight bout between Eddie Wineland and Grigory Popov was added to UFC 238, taking place June 8 at United Center in Chicago, Illinois. The Fight Country broke the news. Wineland (23-13-1) is 5-7 overall from the UFC and is coming from sequential decision declines to Alejandro Perez and John Dodson. He generally just fights after a year now, and has not won a fight since a TKO win over Takeya Mizugaki in 2016. Popov (13-1) is riding a nine-fight win series on the Asian regional arena into his UFC debut, although he hasn’t fought anyone of note. Something interesting to remember is that we’ve won two fights via the rarely-seen gogoplata submission. Still, I anticipate most bettors to look to fade Wineland here, and Popov will probably be favored regardless of his lack of UFC experience.
Markus Perez vs. Deron Winn, UFC Fight Night 154
A fascinating middleweight bout between Markus Perez and Deron Winn is place for UFC Fight Night 154, taking place June 22 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. Combate broke the news. Perez (11-2) is 2-2 in the UFC and is coming off of a submission win over Anthony Hernandez. Winn (5-0) is coming from a determination win over Tom Lawlor in Golden Boy MMA 1 and has been considered a top prospect in 205lbs, however he’ll be dropping down in weight for this battle. Though Perez has looked great in his victories, he’s a bit too inconsistent for my liking and as a top prospect I expect Winn to be the favorite.
Molly McCann vs. Ariane Lipski, UFC Fight Night 154
Also added to UFC Fight Night 154 is a women’s flyweight bout between Molly McCann and Ariane Lipski. ESPN had the news. McCann (8-2) is currently 1-1 in the UFC and is coming from a decision win over the above Cachoeira. Lipski (11-4) was a champion in KSW and had a lengthy win streak before arriving in the UFC, but it had been snapped by a decision loss to Joanne Calderwood. The Calderwood fight proved to be a challenging style matchup to get Lipski, yet this fight against McCann needs to be more in her wheelhouse, and I expect her to receive her hands raised.

UFC TARGETING KEVIN LEE VS. GREGOR GILLESPIE

The UFC is planning on reserving a fascinating lightweight bout between top-15 wrestlers. My ideas on that brand new matchup and a few new bouts added to Nashville in the current MMA odds and ends.
Kevin Lee vs. Gregor Gillespie, May UFC Event
The UFC is targeting a lightweight bout between Kevin Lee and Gregor Gillespie to headline a yet-to-be-announced occasion in May, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani. The fight is not finalized yet but is very likely to be made soon. Lee (17-4) is 10-4 in the UFC and in his final battle missing a five-round choice to Al Iaquinta. Ahead of the Iaquinta loss, Lee had put to a beatdown on Edson Barboza and even though a entry loss to Tony Ferguson earlier that, he remains one of the top lightweights in the sport now. Gillespie (13-0) is a perfect 6-0 at the UFC and in his last fight picked up a TKO win over Yancy Medeiros. Lee is one of those top-ranked lightweights in the UFC and is really the younger fighter in this matchup, but I really think in Gillespie and believe that he has the potential to be a champion in this game. It’s likely to be a hard-fought fight, but one I think Gillespie can triumph. I’m curious to see what the betting line will be for this one, but when Gillespie is a puppy there will definitely be value betting on him at plus money.
Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Jesus Pinedo, UFC Fight Night 148
An enjoyable lightweight bout between Chris Gruetzemacher and Jesus Pinedo will take place at UFC Fight Night 148, set for March 23 in Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. Gruetzemacher (12-4) is 2-2 at the UFC and is coming from a barbarous TKO win over Joe Lauzon. Pinedo (16-4-1) is riding a seven-fight win streak and defeated Devin Powell by decision in his UFC debut. Pinedo is a very nice potential but Gruetzemacher has more experience against a high level of competition and based on the win over Lauzon he needs to be at least slightly favored here.
Eric Shelton vs. Jordan Espinosa, UFC Fight Night 148
A rare flyweight bout between Eric Shelton and Jordan Espinosa is set for UFC Fight Night 148. Shelton (12-5) is 2-3 at the UFC and is coming from a split decision win over Joseph Morales. Espinosa (13-5, 1 NC) is riding a four-fight win streak such as a knockout win in Dana White’s Contender Series last summer. Shelton has not been anything special from the UFC while Espinosa looks like he’s some good potential. I would anticipate a close line , with a slight lean to the more dynamic Espinosa.
Chris Gutierrez vs. Ryan MacDonald, UFC Fight Night 148
Additionally at UFC Fight Night 148, bantamweight Chris Gutierrez will fulfill short-notice replacement Ryan MacDonald. Gutierrez (12-4-1) is coming off of a submission loss to Raoni Barcelos in his UFC debut but had won three straight fights before that. MacDonald (10-0) is an undefeated prospect who’s coming off of a submission win in LFA. He’s carrying the fight on short notice for an injured Martin Day. This should be a competitive fight but despite the brief notice, the simple fact that MacDonald has never dropped may make him a little betting favorite at available here.

Atlanta Hawks: 100-1

We make a major jump into 100-1 land together with the Atlanta Hawks–one doesn’t feel nearly enough.
Ahead of Al Horford went with (another) torn pectoral last year, Mike Budenholzer’s birds were 16-13, looking like the third-best team in the East. Atlanta closed the year with a 22-31 mark out after dropping its best player.
Obviously, because the East was the East, the Hawks made the playoffs.
This year, Horford is looking nice in preseason play and healthy . Additionally, Paul Millsap is currently playing for a contract, Jeff Teague remains among the least valued talents of the league and Thabo Sefolosha is presently in town to deliver a few perimeter defense.
Nobody’s saying the Hawks are a bunch of world-beaters, but they feel like postseason locks. And they may finish among the conference’s top .
At the very least, they’ll jack a lot of threes (only the Houston Rockets attempted more in 2013-14) and also take care of the ball (Atlanta’s assist-to-turnover ratio had been next best at the East). That’s a recipe for success.
Don’t sleep on the Hawks.

UFC 226 Predictions and Betting Odds

International Fight Week culminates in UFC 226, among the best cards on paper we have seen in some time. This card is stacked top to bottom — I’d seriously advise watching nearly all the bouts on this card — but that doesn’t always lend itself well to bettors. Do not worry, I am here to bring you a comprehensive breakdown and prediction for every fight on the primary card of UFC 226.
2018 Prediction Record To Date
Straight Up Selecting Notifications Picking Underdogs
27-19 23-13 4-6
Stipe Miocic vs Daniel Cormier
Miocic (-250) has built his game around his world-class boxing skills. He constantly probes together with his long jab as he waits for his opportunity to counter. That having been said, Miocic could be better if he is fighting in a phone booth with much more power in his brief punches than most people have, period. In addition, the reigning champion is a former D1 wrestler that has adapted his style excellently to MMA. Generally, these skills are utilized but Miocic may also use them to wear down opponents — view his most recent bout vs Francis Ngannou. When he’s one big negative, it is his defense. He has a bad tendency to take a hit to provide a hit.
Cormier (+195) is first and foremost a series wrestling pro. The former Olympian is at his best when he could get his opponent’s back from the cage and start working his enormous selection of takedowns. If he reaches top, DC is a master in making his opponent work while giving them go. His striking isn’t the sexiest however, the meat-and-potatoes approach is getting an superb secondary skill set for Cormier. Though he is known to be a heavyweight — 13-0 in the weight class — his height and reach disadvantage will probably be announced in this one.
Unlike the gambling odds, I would not be shocked if Cormier won this fight. The only person to beat him is Jon Jones. However, Miocic is a great boxer who can utilize his reach advantage over the smaller Cormier along with the heavyweight champion’s wrestling background means he won’t be steamrolled from the former Olympian.
